October 24-26, 2013
American Cochlear Implant Alliance held its conference on October 24-26, 2013 in Washington, DC at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill. The 2013 CI conference was entitled "Emerging Issues in Cochlear Implantation" and is planned as a symposium addressing research, clinical implications and cost effectiveness.

The Alliance released an updated Conference Program. For a full copy of the program click HERE. For archived session materials click HERE.

The conference was convened by the American Cochlear Implant Alliance and brought together cochlear implant clinicians, educators, and government officials to explore the latest research results, discuss the clinical population, and raise questions regarding clinical implications.  Each of six 3-hour topical segments included expert speakers from across the treatment continuum: otologists, audiologists, and  (re)habilitative clinicians and/or educators of children with hearing loss.  The final hour of each segment consisted of a panel discussion of the speakers and additional participants who can address cost effectiveness and potential insurance implications. The panel discussions explored:

  • Hearing Preservation and Cochlear Implants
  • Cochlear Implants and the Very Young
  • Cochlear Implants in Multiply Involved Children
  • Cochlear Implants in Single-Sided Deafness
  • Taking Cochlear Implant Recipients to the Next Level with Hearing Assistance Technology
  • Telehealth and Cochlear Implants
