The multidisciplinary team of cochlear implant specialists at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital have extensive experience in routine as well as complex hearing loss and auditory problems in both pediatric and adult patients. We believe that family support is vital, and patient and family members are an important part of the cochlear implant team at UH. We get to know our patients and spend years working with them as their needs change and technology advances. Our comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating patients with hearing problems has been a model in the world of hearing treatment. Our highly-trained and board-certified team is one of the most accomplished and experienced in the nation and includes: · Five board certified neurotologists who lead the cochlear implant team, and specializes in the treatment of ear disease and surgery, as well as nerve and brain-related problems of the ear · Pediatric otolaryngologists specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss in children · Audiologists who perform pre-operative hearing evaluations · Audiologists who are doctoral trained in the diagnosis and management of hearing and balance issues · Cochlear implant audiology specialists who program the external speech processor to the patient’s individual preferences and needs, measure performance with the device and reprogram it to physiological changes over time · Two speech-language pathologists certified in Auditory Verbal Therapy for pre and post-operative (re)habilitative therapy. · A developmental pediatrician and a pediatric behavioral psychologist with expertise in management of the hearing impaired child Our multidisciplinary team has you, the patient, at its center; our goal is to help you navigate the CI process and flourish!
