Insurance and Cochlear Implants

Cochlear implants are highly underutilized by people who could benefit and one of the most common reasons that people don’t pursue the intervention is a misperception that they or their family will be paying for the device and related services out-of-pocket. This introduction to health insurance and cochlear implants will explain the typical coverage process in public and private health insurance plans as well as the likely financial responsibility of the individual or family. Presenters are the director of an innovative cochlear implant program and a national advocate for cochlear implant access.
