Connecting with other teens who have cochlear implants can be incredibly valuable. Support groups and online communities provide a space for sharing experiences, advice, and encouragement.

Key Considerations for Teens:

  • Individual Needs: The benefits and specific connections a teen experiences will depend on their individual hearing loss, how long they've had the implant, and the support they receive.

  • Ongoing Support: Regular check-ups with audiologists and ongoing therapy are crucial to ensure the teen is getting the most out of their cochlear implant.

  • Self-Advocacy: As teens mature, it's important for them to learn how to advocate for their own hearing needs in different environments.

The mission of the American Cochlear Implant (ACI) Alliance is to advance access to the gift of hearing provided by cochlear implantation through research, advocacy and awareness.
