Indiana University Cochlear Implant Program has a long-standing history of excellence dating back to 1979 when Dr. Richard T. Miyamoto implanted his first single channel cochlear implant device. The Indiana University Cochlear Implant Program remains a leader in this field of ever changing technology. Over 2000 patients have been implanted and followed by our program. As such, the experience and expertise provided by our implant team is invaluable. The surgeons, audiologists, and speech language pathologists that comprise our team continue to provide the highest quality, state of the art care to all individuals with cochlear implants. It is for this reason that our program is internationally recognized both as a clinical center and research resource for adults and children with severe to profound hearing loss.
