As part of the Penn Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, we are the leading center in the Philadelphia area for cochlear implantation. We boast a comprehensive, active cochlear implantation program, including state-of-the-art surgical placement of the device. The Penn Implantable Hearing Device Program began more than thirty years ago and provides more cochlear implants than any other center in the Philadelphia region. Through our clinical research, we are involved in investigating ways to increase candidacy criteria and improve outcomes for those in need of implantable hearing devices. We are the only center in the region that works with all three cochlear implant manufacturers. By working closely with implant manufacturers, we are able to provide our patients with informed assistance so they can find the best solution for their hearing needs.
