April, 25, 2016
It is with great sadness that the American Cochlear Implant Alliance announces the passing of Dr. John K. Niparko, the organization’s Co-Founding Chair and an internationally recognized leader and innovator in the field of cochlear implantation. Dr. Niparko was a surgeon, scientist, researcher, educator, writer, advocate, and humanitarian. Respected by his peers around the world, he was universally loved by his patients for his clinical competence as well as his understanding of the role that hearing plays in human connection.
A remembrance of his life will be held at CI2016 International in Toronto at the organization’s Member Meeting at 4:30 PM on Thursday, May 12.
The mission of the American Cochlear Implant (ACI) Alliance is to advance access to the gift of hearing provided by cochlear implantation through research, advocacy and awareness.
