Auditory Brainstem Implants (ABIs): First developed to help neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) patients (commonly known as acoustic neuromas), ABI use has recently been extended to adults with non-tumor etiologies. In addition, a limited number of children in the US have received ABIs as part of clinical trials to assess the benefit for children who do not have auditory nerves to support cochlear implants. The following presentations were given during CI2016, Toronto and include the following topics: performance in children, long-term outcomes and subjective benefit.
