The forum is a featured event at CI2023 Dallas and will emphasize clinically-applicable, research-based information presented by experts. Following the presentations, we will Continue the Conversation at a reception allowing attendees to interact with speakers and other attendees. Part I - Cochlear Implant Intervention and Outcomes for Children with Early Developmental Impairments

Children who have significant developmental impairments in addition to hearing loss can present challenges for the professionals working with them. Implications regarding research focused on outcomes for children with and without additional developmental delays who underwent cochlear implantation or continued with hearing aid use has led to a framework for clinical scenarios regarding surgical, audiological, habilitative, and educational management to ensure each child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Part II - Post-implantation Therapy Benefits Adults, Too

Frequently, adult cochlear implant recipients do not engage in audiologic rehabilitation for a variety of reasons, even though evidence supports its benefit. There are several types of research-based rehabilitation programs, which can be incorporated into clinical practice, including a weeklong intensive program, known as the Auditory Revitalization Conference. When feasibly implemented, these programs have the potential to improve outcomes for adult cochlear implant users.
